Join us for a virtual event where you’ll hear from two members of the Professional Development Committee on Interview Tips & Resume Writing!
During this presentation, you will learn:
- How to head into an interview with confidence
- The key differences between government and private sector interviews
- The questions you will most likely encounter during an interview, and how to answer that dreaded question “What are your best & worst qualities?”
- How to look professional on video
- What to include in your resume and the importance of tailoring it for the position
- And many other tips and strategies!
Presenter: Kevin Jim, P.E.
Kevin Jim, P.E., received his bachelor’s degree in civil & environmental engineering from the University of California at Berkeley, and his master’s degree in environmental engineering from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. He has 21 years of experience working in engineering consulting firms and public agencies in the US and Hong Kong on the planning and design of water and wastewater facilities. He currently works as an Associate Civil Engineer at the East Bay Municipal Utility District (EBMUD), Wastewater Planning Section. Kevin is a member of CWEA SF Bay Section’s Professional Development Committee (PDC). He is also a violist and performed regularly throughout the Bay Area before the pandemic.
Presenter: Claire O’Brien, P.E.
Claire O’Brien, is a civil engineer with over 6 years of water/wastewater and land development experience across the United States, including the Bay Area, New York City, and Indianapolis. Claire has worked on treatment, collections, distribution, and storage facilities, including rehabilitation of existing facilities on almost all phases of the project life. As project engineer, Claire has coordinated with teams of various sizes involving civil, structural, mechanical, and electrical disciplines. Claire is passionate about improving water and wastewater infrastructure and public spaces. Claire enjoys participating in professional organizations and currently serves as Chair for the Professional Development Committee of the CWEA’s San Francisco Bay Section. Claire holds a B.S. in Civil Engineering with an Environmental Emphasis from the University of Notre Dame.
